Project Overview
Problem:
In my Computer-Aided Design class we were tasked to design and fabricate a counterbalancing wine bottle or beer bottle holder.
Solution:
I used SolidWorks to find the center of gravity of a wine bottle and beer bottle and designed my holder so that it could counterbalance both types of bottles. I also added the bottle opener functionality to the base of the product so that when the holder wasn’t holding a wine bottle it could be stored in a kitchen drawer as a bottle opener. I designed the product to look like a wine glass, and used HSMworks to generate the CAM tool patch that machined the holder. I then welded it together at the correct angle, and sent it out for powder coating.
