Project Overview
Problem:
In my Computer-Aided Design class we were tasked to work in pairs to design and manufacture an innovative and versatile spoon.
Solution:
We chose to innovate by designing a spork that had a small footprint by using the finger as its handle. We usedSolidWorksto design our utensil and mold and used HSMWorks to create the tool path. I machined the cavity section of the mold using 3-axis CAM on the milling machines. We machined the side core on the lathe. We used the injection molding machine to produce the finger spork with minimal flashing.
