Laser Cutter Construction
Once I had been at tool. for a few months, my boss told everyone he wanted to build a laser cutter in the office. I jumped on the opportunity to help, and ended up spearheading its construction. Now, the company uses it routinely.
Lasersaur Build
After hours I built the "lasersaur" an open source laser cutter that my boss found online. We hired a summer intern to start the project, but I managed him and helped him along the way. When he left, I kept working on the laser cutter after work until it was complete.
HEPA Ventalation
I also built a HEPA ventalation device to clean the air of the fumes from the lasercutter.
Laser Cutting Rocks!
It turns out that you can actually laser etch rocks! I engraved the company logo onto a piece of slate I found outside. The engraved area looks and feels almost like glass!
Chair Built Using the Laser Cutter
We built a chair in "slices" that is a lot more comfertable then it looks!
Custom Tap Handles
At Tool we brew our own beer, and have our own keg-orator, but up until the laser cutter we didn't have any custom tap handles! I made these from reclaimed pallets from our loading dock. They match the industrial look of our office space.
A More Refined Chair
Who knew you could bend wood? My coworker Marcus did! He and I made this more comfertable chair using the laser cutter.
