007 Office Movie

Problem:

MacLean-Fogg hosts a competition between its divisions to highlight their annual improvements with a four minute video. My division had won in 2012, but lost in 2013. When I learned this during my summer internship, I volunteered to help create a winning video.

Solution:

I took the initiative and suggested a creative way of filming the plant using a Quadcopter with an attached GoPro to get aerial views of the machines. Our General Manager liked the idea and assigned me to lead this project on the side, in addition to building the stress embrittlement test machine. I wrote, filmed, directed, and produced the marketing video for the corporate wide competition. The video had a James Bond theme, including a British voice narration of a plot involving a competitor—played by the general manager—infiltrating the plant to steal proprietary efficiency procedures. Employees were “interrogated” about these procedures in order to maximize their involvement. I organized a police car to come chase the general manager out of the parking lot after the employees ran him out of the plant. Our video won the competition.
